IS IT WORTH IT

Another hole in increasing sales numbers of Japanese make is here...
the KTM’s India coming.. Bajaj has always been giving a trespass to Kawasaki in Indian performance segment but this time its no Japanese intruder.

The Austrian manufacture KTM mainly known for its off road capabilities has finally made its debut in India with Duke 200 street bike which will be marketed by bajaj through their exclusive pro-biking showrooms. The Duke 200 is also likely to be assembled locally by Bajaj in India.

Technical specifications follows-

ENGINE DESIGN - Single-cylinder, 4-stroke, spark-ignition engine, liquid-cooled

DISPLACEMENT - 200CC

STARTING - Electric starter

TRANSMISSION - 6-speed, claw shift

FRONT BRAKES - disk brake with 2-pot caliper

REAR BRAKES - disk brake with 1 -pot caliper, floating disk type

Now the performance figure seems to be quite interesting. Peak power generation of 26bhp in lieu of 200cc displacement is no less than a bomb with kerb weight of just 125kg. Now that is best in class power to weight ratio of 184 Ps/ton among all its competitors including YAMAHA R15 and HONDA CBR 250R, and that’s a big damn hole in Japanese pot.

Also this bike is sporting some new 1st time features in domestic market like complete naked streetfighter styling along with upside down front forks. The engine is also par with quality featuring a single cylinder 4 valve head fed by fuel injection system along with a liqui

d cooling system.
Some common going features of premium bikes like rear monoshock suspension, digital hud, light and stable frame are not to point out.

Now the most interesting part is introductory ex-showroom price which has been claimed to be 1.18 lacs INR.
So this one is going to be a big deal against Japanese dominance
Bookings have been opened by Bajaj witha waiting period of about a month..
